Gunners are champs, AGAIN.

Over the last weekend the Gunners FC 99 boys team played in a local tournament in Beavercreek.  The Haunted Classic tournament.  The team was placed in the top bracket BU11 Orange.  We had to play teams from out of town and from the stacked Buckeye Premier League.  Our first game was Saturday morning at 8:00 o'clock.  There was a chill in the air, the sun was slowly peaking above the horizon.  The boys were focused and preparing to take the tournament by storm.  Our first opponent was from out of town.  This team made a trip from West Virginia to participate.  The first half was played at a superior level and we were leading 1 - 0.  During the second half the W.V. team came out ready to go and pushed our team to the limit.  We scored another goal and began to keep solid possession of the game.  A late foul gave W.V. a free kick just outside the box. Final score, 2-1.
Our next game that day was later that morning against another out of town team from Findlay, Ohio.  This was a game that should have been won.  But with determination and a little bit of luck, we were able to keep the score level.  A tie is always better than a loss any day. 2-2.
On Sunday we were lucky to have a late morning game at 11:30.  This time we were scheduled to play a good team from the Buckeye Premier league.  Metro FC from the Bellbrook area. We dominated the entire game. We had great play from every aspect of the game.  We won 3-1.  And on our way to a championship game later that afternoon.
4:30, strong breeze in the air.  The boys are focused and determined.  We start the game with great pressure and score quickly.  The team from Springboro was taken back and never recouped.  Another goal was scored on a beautiful cross from Brandon Morton and headed in with power by Hunter Haas.  All of the Gunners players were in full destroy mode.  We shut down any attempt the NWC Alliance team tried to achieve. at the end of the game we were victorious, 5-1.
This tournament was a great growing spurt for our team.  I am very proud of all the boys.
